Fair Price Guarantee
IN THIS ARTICLE
How the Guarantee Works
Being in the RepairPal Certified network means you stand by the Fair Price Estimator. We use MOTOR data for labor times, market-based labor rates, and MSRP (Factory List) for OEM and OEM-equivalent aftermarket parts.
If your customer presents an apples-to-apples estimate from the estimator, charge no more than the high end, excluding taxes, shop fees, diagnostics, and add-on sales. Submit a claim and we'll pay the difference.
If you feel the estimator is off
If you would just like to notify us that you feel the estimator is off (not a claim request) submit an itemized, printed, estimate to estimatefeedback@repairpal.com. It should have the following information listed:
- Zipcode
- Repair
- Vehicle Information
- Year/Make/Model
- 2WD/4WD/AWD
- Tow Package?
- Automatic/Manual Transmission
- Engine Size - CC or Liters
- VIN (If possible)
If you have a customer needing a repair
Submitting a Claim
- Completed Repair Order
- Proof of Payment
- Parts acquisition invoice
Please Note:
- The Fair Price Estimator does not include diagnostics, sales tax, shop fees, or add-on sales
- Your labor time must be from an industry-recognized labor time guide
- Parts markup should not to exceed OEM MSRP
- If there are other factors affecting repairs such as rust, damage, and/or modifications, these should be listed on separate labor lines and charged to the consumer (Not included in estimate)
- If the labor time guide specifically states an add-on repair is not included, RepairPal does not include it either. Have all work and add-on repairs authorized by your customer prior to work being performed. RepairPal will not reimburse you for additional parts and/or labor that is outside of the apples-to-apples estimate
Estimator Questions
What if the price of my parts are high but my labor is low (or vice versa)?
The parts and labor breakdown is irrelevant to the Fair Price Guarantee. The only number that we are concerned with is the total cost of the job excluding diagnosis, taxes and fees.
This repair isn't in the Estimator - Is it a fair price?
Occasionally you will have a customer reach out regarding a repair that is not in the estimator. We do not do custom estimates, so any repair not in the estimator is not covered by the RepairPrice Guarantee. You can assure your customer that they can be confident they're getting a fair price by going to a RepairPal Certified shop, and that all our shops go through a rigorous certification process to ensure they have fair pricing and business practices.
Why wasn't I reimbursed for my claim?
Be sure to verify the estimate - it should match the repair work being performed. For example, if the estimator shows front brakes on a vehicle but the customer gets the rear brakes done, that would not be covered under the guarantee. If you use ALLDATA or Mitchell for labor times, charge OEM list (or less) on parts, and don't include additional parts, you will have no problem being reimbursed.
