Referral Fees

Participating in any partnership program is optional and pay-for-performance. Participating in RepairPal.com repairs is a feature of the program for all Certified shops.

Once you receive a referral, we charge 10% of parts and labor* on any completed repair orders, to help cover the cost we spend or are sharing with our partners to market your shop. Many partners are paying to market your shop, including offering reduced deductibles and paying for email, web campaigns, agent training and more. It also allows us to share some of this revenue with our partners which gives them motivation to do business with us.

Optionally, you may also choose to Pay Per Referral, at $50 for each appointment, roadside/ tow and claim you receive.

*We strive to remove taxes from your bill, but due to the variability in the data we receive and the sources we receive it from, its not always possible to split them out. If you notice that taxes are included, please contact us at shopsuccess@repairpal.com and we will remove them for you.

Referrals

We find that most customers referred through our website and partner programs are new to a shop, because returning customers whom you've delighted with your service and skill will often contact you directly. If you see a referral or repair charge and it's for a prior customer, that would indicate that they contacted us or our partner first, and likely would have chosen a different shop if you hadn't been listed there.

Billing Examples

Let's take a look at two different billing examples. In the first example, your returning customer contacts you directly for service - they're in no need of a referral. In the second example, your returning customer went to our partner instead, resulting in a referral, and 10% fee.

Example #1

A new customer contacts one of our partners looking for an automotive repair shop, and our partner, refers them to you. 10% referral fee or $50 per referral

For their next service, they've decided to use your shop again, so they contact you directly. This is not a partner or RepairPal referral.

Example #2

A new customer contacts one of our partners looking for an automotive repair shop, and our partner, refers them to you. 10% referral fee or $50 per referral

For their next service, they contact our partner again, looking for an automotive repair shop. Because of that partner, you get the referral (instead of another shop). 10% referral fee or $50 per referral

By Category - We Match Repairs Based on Data We Receive From Our Partners

CarMax: You may receive calls, appointments, messages, associate referrals or claims.  You may also receive a tow through their roadside program.  Claims do not currently display in your dashboard, but CarMax funds a $50 reduction in deductible for each one to encourage customers to visit your shop and so you are billed for each of these.

Roadside: You will see dispatches in your shop dashboard, or you may see appointment requests.

Telematics:  You may see an appointment, call or there may be an app account match, where the customer received an in-app referral.

Website/ Consumer Referral:  You will see an appointment, call or message.

Extended Warranty Provider:  You will likely see an appointment or call.  RepairPal also receives referral files for agent/ associate referrals from some providers.

Installation/ Rebate Partners:  You will receive an appointment for installation or repair.  RepairPal (and/ or the partner) will fund any rebate and discounts and these may be pre-paid plans or services.
