About Aegis/ HeroProtects

Aegis provides extended service contracts primarily to used car dealers, selling certified pre-owned vehicles - but occasionally, new vehicles as well. These policies are typically sold by selling dealers and agents.

Aegis is very focused on providing quality service to their consumers, so they have partnered with RepairPal to connect their customers to our network of high quality shops. 


Referrals

Participating shops will be listed on their websites for both Aegis as well as HeroProtects, and their call center agents will also make customer referrals to participating shops.  Most of their customers will call you or make an appointment with you online.


Rules for Participation

Plan Offerings:  There are two brands: Aegis (direct-to-consumer, 4 coverage levels, up to 250k miles, vehicles up to 20 years old) and HeroProtects: (sold through dealers, with 4 tiered levels).

Labor Rate:  We will provide a feed of current labor rates to the partner, based on what you have listed in your RepairPal dashboard.  This guide tells you how to review and change your labor rate if needed. Please note that this partner has a national cap of $125. This means that unless their customer has an enhanced policy, you'll be charging them the difference.

Labor Times:  Aegis uses ALLDATA for labor time calculations.  If you do not have ALLDATA, they will provide you with the labor times for your job and/ or be flexible with you regarding your labor times, as long as you are using an established alternative guide (like Mitchell, for instance). 

Parts:  When you source the part, you will use MSRP as a guideline for parts pricing.  Aegis has a network of parts suppliers and some of the time on pricier components, they ask shops to accept parts they have sourced from their suppliers. These parts will be paid for, shipped, and warrantied (for both the part and reinstallation labor if it fails) by Aegis.

Taxes:  Aegis contracts generally cover taxes.

Towing:  Towing coverage is provided by Nation Safe Drivers (NSD), who can be reached at 800-702-3515

Rental Cars:  Rental car coverage is typically capped at 5 days, with additional time authorized if needed, and a daily limit. There is no preferred rental car provider.

Diagnose the vehicle based on the customer’s concern and determine the repairs and parts needed.

Identify your shop as a RepairPal network shop.

How your shop gets paid
The customer is responsible for:
  • Their deductible
  • Any non covered repairs
  • Excess on the labor rate (on some contracts)

Aegis will issue payment directly to your shop for covered repairs that have been approved (either by credit card or check).
