Where Your Shop Gets Displayed

Directory Listings & Logic:

When a customer has a make selected, we only show shops or dealers that work on that make.  If no make is selected, specialist shops or dealers will not show in the results.
We detect where "the customer is", either bc we have detected it ourselves or because the customer entered a zip code (if the customer entered a zip code before and hasn't cleared cookies,  we default to that zip again until they change it).  We show shops in that area.

Sort Order:

  1. Shops and dealers then show in this order, for up to 50 miles away from you (you can click to expand if you want to see shops beyond 50 miles):
  2. If there is a make specialist (shop or dealer) within 10 miles, we show it first
  3. If there is not, or after that, we show you up to 25 shops in distance order
  4. If there is more than 1 shop in your zip code, we rotate the order of those shops

Exceptions:
  • "Near Me" pages show up to 15 shop results within 50 miles, and the 15 shops that show are in random order.
  • If it is a partner page (for example: repairpal.com/carmax) we only show shops that are participating with that partner.
  • Consumers can also filter the list by availabilities, specialties and distance.

Once your shop is displayed in a list, the consumer can view more details by clicking on your shop.  We show your shop's most consumer relevant highlights and booking info up top, and more details about your shop and certification down below.
